Newmark is bringing aboard a veteran in the development space to lead its D.C.-area operations.

Allison DiGiovanni is joining the brokerage firm from MRP Realty, where she most recently served as senior managing director and one of the leaders of MRP's office division, Newmark announced Monday.

DiGiovanni is now executive vice president at Newmark and market leader for the firm's mid-Atlantic region. She told the Washington Business Journal she had "crossed paths with a lot of Newmark's employees over the past 18 years," and thought joining Newmark's platform was a good opportunity.

While at MRP, DiGiovanni oversaw more than 100 employees and helped grow the developer's office portfolio from 3.5M SF to more than 11M SF, including through properties in the Philadelphia and New York markets, according to her Newmark biography.

Prior to joining MRP in 2014, DiGiovanni was director of property management at Republic Properties Corp. for three years and property manager at Brookfield Properties for two years. She also held various roles at Carr, according to her LinkedIn profile.

"Allison’s extensive experience, reputation for excellence and unique leadership approach are tremendous assets underpinning and advancing the priorities of the Mid-Atlantic region,” Lou Alvarado, Newmark's chief revenue officer and East Region market leader, said in a statement. “She brings a wealth of experience across multiple facets of the industry, as well as strong relationships with stakeholders across the region.”
