One York Street: Leased Up And Ready For Its Close Up

One York Street is set to open to tenants next week, and not only is the 35-storey office tower a looker, it’s also 95% leased. “It’s been a very successful project from my point of view,” says Jim Keohane, CEO of HOOPP, co-developer of the building with Menkes Developments. Anchor/ tower namesake Sun Life Financial has floors 22 to 35; HOOPP itself is on 16 to 21; and CIBC Mellon has ground level to 14. One York’s surrounding streetscape is being spruced up, too, and before long the Gardiner Expressway York Street off-ramp will come down, a park created in its place (as envisioned above). “Used to be like walking through a dungeon down there,” says Jim. “Now it’s pretty nice.”
