A sold-out crowd of music lovers and love birds flocked to Crystal City this past Valentine's Day for a secret, pop-up concert that kicked off the neighborhood’s live music events series. In collaboration with Vornado/Charles E. Smith, the Crystal City Business Improvement District partnered with Sofar Sounds DC to transform a space in the Crystal City Shops into an intimate live music venue.

“Music can shape and magnify the soul of any place,” said Crystal City BID CEO Angela Fox. “The artists that Sofar Sounds selects along with the intimacy of the experience provide a magical combination that is a perfect addition for the Crystal City community.”

A Sofar Sounds concert is an intimate event where the best new artists perform in unique spaces. The group started in London and is now in 316 cities worldwide, providing approximately 500 opportunities every month for artists to delight listeners and gain recognition. During these events, the music comes first. Attendees are prohibited from talking throughout the set, engendering a great listening and playing experience.

Sofar Sounds has set its next Crystal City date for March 6. Fox encourages music enthusiasts to act fast to reserve a spot as shows tend to sell out quickly.
