Crystal City's Sip & Salsa Event

Summer may be coming to an end, but Crystal City residents, workers and visitors will have a programming-packed fall to keep them active and entertained. The Crystal City BID is partnering with local businesses and venues to host a number of exciting events and activities designed to bring people together outside.

Crystal City is full of inviting, interesting open spaces, from outdoor parks to underground art walkways. This season’s selection of programs will activate these spaces in innovative ways to create an engaging community atmosphere.

Each month, SoFar Sounds arrives in Crystal City with an intimate live concert. The location of the show is kept secret until the day before to keep guests on their toes, eagerly anticipating and trying to guess where it might be held. Crystal City also hosts a series of SIPtember events, bringing the community together for drinks, dancing and fun.

The region’s longest running, inside-the-Beltway, outdoor wine festival, Sip & Salsa, returned for its 11th consecutive year with wine, dancing lessons from the Salsa Room, local food and great music. In case you missed Sip & Salsa, Sept. 17, Pups and Pilsners swaps the wine for beer and the dancing for dogs, providing a place for dog lovers to congregate and make new two- and four-legged friends.

The Fridays at the Fountain series, which is running through October, is a local favorite, giving everyone a relaxing place to unwind from their workweek. Free to attend, this event transforms Crystal City’s signature green space, the fountain (or Crystal City Water Park), into a social outdoor beer and wine garden with live music. Throughout September, the beer menu will be subject to craft takeovers from regional breweries, including Three Notch’d, Caboose, New District, Right Proper and Devil’s Backbone.

For anyone who considers themselves a dog lover, salsa dancer, live music lover, foodie or simply a people person, the Crystal City BID provides numerous opportunities to engage with the community.
