The Innovative Venue And Food Behind Bisnow’s Event

We look for partners and venues that capture our (almost) never boring mindset and create exciting experiences. A place that calls itself “Boston’s home for Innovation” seemed like a natural place to start.

Opened in October 2013, District Hall serves as a workspace and venue, hosting a number of events and speaker series. With Idea Paint-covered walls doubling as whiteboards, LEED certification and water views, District Hall pretty much screamed “cool” and “flexible.”

As for the food, we realized an event about Boston restaurant development needed a full service event planning company that could provide top-of-the-line food, while remaining a pioneer in the field.

Boston Event Solutions caught our eye. As the event arm of the Briar Group—a 12 restaurant partnership dedicated to bringing quality restaurants to Boston—it represents concepts in every major neighborhood. Boston Event Solutions is looking towards the future of event planning with more specialized, experiential events at the various Briar Group venues like Anthem Kitchen + Bar, Brew Café, City Bar, City Table, Gather, The Green Briar, M.J. O’Connor’s, Ned Devine’s, Sola’s and the Harp.

“We can really work with any sort of budget or format. Not only can we do the more conventional business meetings, breakfasts and dinners, we can also set up Guinness pourings with glass engravings, Jameson Whiskey tastings and high-end wine tastings,” says Briar Group Director of Marketing Hannah Huke.

According to Hannah, these kinds of unique events have actually been on the rise for years.

“People are definitely getting more creative. They want something more for team building and bonding. They want the little bit extra over the regular cocktail hour or happy hour.”

At our Boston Restaurant Development Event, the menu from Gather included unique items like chicken and waffle bites, duck tacos and spaghetti squash pizza.

"Naturally," Hannah says, "the chef uses local ingredients, a standard that should be a given for restaurant appeal these days."

It was this kind of forward thinking that helped make our event a success.
