Sergio Pino's Wife, Brother Settle Dispute Over Estate Of Late Developer

South Florida

A Miami-Dade County judge ruled that Tatiana Pino is the sole owner of Century Homebuilders Group, which she assumed control of following the death of her husband and co-founder, Sergio Pino, after he allegedly hired hitmen to kill her.

The ruling ends the yearlong legal dispute between Tatiana Pino and her brother-in-law, Carlos Pino, over control of Sergio Pino’s personal estate and the company’s ownership, the Miami Herald reported. Tatiana and Carlos Pino submitted the settlement proposal, which received court approval on Wednesday.

“We now have certainty that Tatiana Pino can continue to run Century Homebuilders Group,” her lawyer, Glen Waldman, told the Herald. “This also removes an impediment and creates a path to work with the curator to resolve other issues in the estate.”

Century Homebuilders, which Tatiana and Sergio Pino co-founded in 2013, is one of the largest Hispanic-owned homebuilders in South Florida.

Tatiana Pino took full ownership of the company after her late husband died by suicide in July 2024, just before federal agents raided his home in Coral Gables.

At the time, he was being investigated by the FBI for allegedly trying to poison his wife and hiring multiple people to kill her amid bitter divorce proceedings, the Herald previously reported.

Two months after Sergio Pino’s death, Carlos Pino filed a suit seeking 50% ownership in the company in the midst of a clash over who should serve as the representative of the estate, the South Florida Business Journal reported

As part of the settlement, Century Homebuilders will forgive nearly $700K in debt owed by Carlos Pino, The Real Deal reported, and he relinquishes a Key Largo vacation home and won't be personal representative for Sergio Pino’s estate any longer.

“All of the disputes between the Pino family members have been amicably resolved,” Carlos Pino’s lawyer, Sergio Mendez, told the Herald. “Carlos Pino looks forward to reconciling the family differences.”

Century Homebuilders and Waldman didn't respond to a request for comment.

In September, Tatiana Pino, who is now CEO of Century Homebuilders, and her daughters filed a new lawsuit against Sergio Pino’s girlfriend, Nancy Pastor, alleging fraudulent transfers before his death, TRD reported.

In the company’s latest moves, Century Homebuilders Group sold three residential development sites to a land bank representing Lennar for $24.8M in March. In April, Lennar took over two more sites for $23M.

Century Homebuilders was also warding off a $45M foreclosure suit over 850 Living apartments south of Miami International Airport, but it was resolved when the trustee, Pastor, sold the asset for $72M in March.
