Bad news for Oakland Raiders fans: The Raiders just submitted a formal application to move to Las Vegas.

Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak announced the news via Twitter earlier today. The NFL’s 32 owners will vote on the proposed relocation in March, and a super-majority of 24 will be needed to approve the move. If approved, the Raiders could be in Vegas for the 2020 season.

Financing the new stadium appears to be in the bag with $750M in public funds already approved by the state last year. Goldman Sachs has expressed interest in funding any gaps if casino magnate Sheldon Adelson — the richest commercial real estate exec in the country — doesn’t follow through with his original financial commitment, according to SocketSite.

The latest from the Raiders falls on the heels of the Chargers officially moving to Los Angeles, which took the option to move down to Southern California off the table for the Raiders. Oakland City Council continues to push forward a plan to keep the Raiders in Oakland. [SS]
