Gov. Brown: Denser Developments, Better Infrastructure

Gov. Jerry Brown touched on several topics during his keynote conversation at the ULI Fall Meeting and shared his vision for “Elegant Density.”

The governor is a firm believer in increasing the ability of people to live closer to where they work and creating high-density neighborhoods. He has pushed plans for a high-speed rail connection between LA and S.F., which he believes will spur development in outlying areas. "We have to find how people can live closer together with greater density and greater elegance,” the governor said.

Brown’s second tenure as governor began in 2010 when he inherited a state riddled with debt and a divided legislature. He earned re-election in 2014 after balancing the budget, reducing waste and improving the state’s credit rating. [ULI]
