SoMa Mixed-Use Receives Key Environmental Exemption

San Francisco

A proposed eight-story building in Eastern SoMa has been granted a key exemption that will allow it to move forward without having to complete a lengthy environmental review. The project, 988 Harrison, is on the site of a long-shuttered service station on the corner of Sixth and Harrison. Underground tanks have already been removed. Plans call for 112 residential units, 7k SF of ground-floor retail and a 73-car underground garage. Workshop1, the project's developer, estimates it will take 20 months to complete once ground is broken. [SS]
