Eastern Tower In Chinatown Set To Break Ground In June

Eastern Tower, the $77M, 23-story mixed-use building planned for the northwest corner of 10th and Vine, is finally set to break ground in June.

The tower, planned by the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corp (PCDC), was announced all the way back in 2011. Of the 23 stories, the upper 17 will be made up of a proposed 144 apartments, while the rest will be occupied by a community center, 12k SF of retail space and 15k SF of office space, according to PlanPhilly.

As the area of Center City that borders Chinatown is set to grow significantly in density with the Market East development, the PCDC is counting on the Eastern Tower to be the heart of a northward expansion of Chinatown across the Vine Street Expressway. [PP]
