Saturday night, we went to the Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts for the annual Wolf Trap Ball.

We snapped special guest, former First Lady Laura Bush addressing the attendees about her love for the National Park system and her lifelong passion for education.

More than 800 supporters raised a record-breaking $1.5M for the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts' education and community programs. Here, former RNC chairman and Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie and his wife, Cathy Gillespie, with public affairs specialist Kyle Simmons.

Attendees were surprised as former President George W. Bush stepped on stage to introduce his wife. President Bush kept the crowd laughing with jokes about not missing Washington.

This year's ball partnered with the National Park Service to highlight its 100th anniversary; the theme, decor, performances and menu were inspired by the Park Service's vibrant history. Here, Ted and Sharon Whitehouse with Rep. Barbara Comstock during the cocktail reception, which had national park-themed passed hors d'oeuvres.

Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell, the honorary chair of the Wolf Trap Ball, spoke about the educational programming the National Park Service offers and her vision for the next century.

Entertainment began with Wolf Trap Opera alumna Denyce Graves accompanied by pianist Kim Pensigner Witman. Here, Karen Cleveland joins Mark Ingrao and Katy Curran during the reception.

Following the opening remarks, guests enjoyed a lavish, three-course dinner featuring poached halibut, grilled bison inspired by Yellowstone National Park, and Hudson Valley Apple Pie with salted caramel ice cream.
