Wednesday, we went to Woodley Park for a special Meet the Designer reception celebrating the nearly completed restoration of the iconic Wardman Tower and unveiling of the Darryl Carter model unit. The Wardman Tower renovation revealed 32 rare two- to four-bedroom homes ranging from 2,200 to 4,600 SF. Designed by New York architecture firm Deborah Berke Partners, the renovated space pays tribute to the opulence of mid-century Paris while adding an open and contemporary feel. Built in 1928 by famed local developer Harry Wardman, the historic Wardman Tower has a significant pedigree and was once home to Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Working to maintain the building’s original aesthetic, restoration experts reintroduced the original window configurations, balconies and doors. Thousands of square feet of the façade were reappointed with brick, cast iron, stone and metal to match the grandeur of Harry Wardman’s original vision.
