We went to the Northern Virginia Urban League 25th Anniversary Community Service and Scholarship Awards Dinner at the Hilton Tysons. We snapped former Secretary of Labor Alexis Herman bookended by McGladrey’s Tracey Walker Sullivan and Scott Vanlandingham.

The Urban League is the nation's oldest and largest community-based movement devoted to empowering minorities to succeed. Here, the NoVA Urban League CEO Cynthia Dinkins and Board chair, United Bank's Ronald Hobson bookend Pioneer Award winner and Operation Hope founder and CEO John Hope Bryant, the keynote speaker, who changed the lives of many with his book, How The Poor Can Save Capitalism: Rebuilding the Path to the Middle Class; right, the emcee, ABC7 anchor Leon Harris.

NOVAUL is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, multi-ethnic, social service organization, one of 94 affiliates of the National Urban League. Here, past president Teneille Walker and VP Angela Kasey with philanthropists Brenda and Mark Moore.

This year's celebration awarded scholarships to deserving students; Osbourn Park High School’s Cameron White thanked the organization for the numerous scholarships.
