We went to the Omni Shoreham for the 44th annual Whitney M. Young Jr. Memorial Unsung Heroes Gala, honoring those who have made a significant impact as visionaries, philanthropists, and corporate and community leaders, including Mayor Muriel Bowser, recipient of the Unsung Housing Champion Award, and Ted Leonsis, recipient of the Unsung Philanthropist Award.
The gala began with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and an extraordinary program. With over 1,200 guests, there was no shortage of energy, especially once GWUL Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, R&B legend Patti LaBelle took the stage.
