The Politics of Fashion!

Last night we also joined the filmmakers, cast, and some of DC’s most fashionable for the premiere and VIP after party of The Politics of Fashion: DC Unboxed at AMC Mazza Gallerie. We snapped the dynamic duo who filmed the documentary-style exposé, writer/producer/director Elaine Mensah and photographer/videographer Jason Baustin.

Two years in the making, the film highlights top local professionals in the industry including former Washington Post fashion critic Robin Givhan, runway coach Miss J Alexander, and Washingtonian fashion editor Kate Bennett. Here, event designer and cast member Andre Wells flanked by Neiman Marcus GM Martha Slagle, and by Analissa Varian and Cara Webster.

The film observes the nation’s capitol through a different lens, providing insight to the question: is DC fashion all politics? Here, cast member and fashion photographer Walter Grio, stylist Kelley Kirchberg, Michael Thomas clothiers’ Mike Comeau, and AT Kearney’s Angela Steever.

There were hors d’oeuvres and cocktails at an after party following the film. Here, Kehli Cage, FAA’s Keisha Braxton, with sister Laytoya.
