We went to the Swanky Bootleg Moonshine Party hosted by the Discovery Channel’s celebrity moonshine producers Chuck Miller and Tim Smith at The Alex Craft Cocktail Cellar & Speakeasy inside The Graham Georgetown.

The event was a celebration of National Moonshine Day and featured moonshine tastings, moonshine craft cocktails, live bluegrass and a meet-and-greet with Miller and Smith from the show Moonshiners, the top two moonshiners in the country. Miller is the owner of Belmont Farm Distillery, whose family has been producing fresh whiskey in the hills of Virginia for more than four centuries. Outlaw turned legal moonshiner Smith is a third-generation moonshiner and owner of Climax Moonshine, whose century-old moonshine recipe is aged and filtered with toasted oak and maple wood imparting color and revolutionary flavors. At the event, guests reveled in spirit concoctions and down-home cuisine such as catfish cakes, scrapple biscuits with okra remoulade, pickled vegetables and spiced peach cobbler, all while the Scott Slay and the Rail band performed down-home bluegrass music.
