Last night we also went to the Summer Carnival Fundraiser to support Horton's Kids at the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center. We snapped Savills Studley's Richard Rome, Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind’s Jocelyn Hunter and her brother POUNDS VP Nick Hunter.

There was a beer and wine bar, delicious treats, games such as cornhole and Connect Four, and Microsoft Kinect for Xbox One. All proceeds will help children have a great start to the school year by providing them with backpacks, uniforms, and a new space for homework help at the Horton’s Kids Community Resource Center in Ward 8. The event was hosted by Microsoft and made possible by Matt Gelman, its Senior Director of Congressional Affairs and Horton's Kids Board member. He's bookended by Horton’s Kids’ Deputy Director Julie Lonardo and Executive Director Robin Berkley.

Horton’s Kids is a community-based organization that serves 500 children, grades K through 12, living in Ward 8. Its comprehensive, year-round programs include academic support, such as one-on-one tutoring, older youth programming, educational advocacy, enrichment opportunities, and health and basic needs services. Here, rep Meghan McCamis is flanked by Chicken Dinner Games CEO Peter Martin and his wife, Salt & Sundry owner Amanda McClements Martin, whose storefront is at Union Market, holding some of the treats served.
