This was the week-end everything happened: Derby parties, White House Correspondents Dinner parties, Gold Cup, Sound Bites, Heart’s Delight, Passport DC. We can’t fit everything into one issue, so stay tuned the next couple days! We’re starting with the Kennedy Center Spring Gala, which we went to last night.
The elegant evening is always a highlight of the DC spring social season, and this year was no exception. We snapped gala co-chairs, CityBridge founder Katherine Bradley and her husband Atlantic Media head David Bradley. They should be pleased: The night raised $2.7 million.
The gala was a salute to outgoing Kennedy Center president Michael Kaiser, whom Kennedy Center chair David Rubenstein (right) praised for his many accomplishments during 13 years at the helm, and named him President Emeritus for life. David’s with former Treasury official Marc Leland and his wife Jacqueline, visiting from London.
Host Hotels chairman Dick Marriott, developer Albert Small, First Potomac's Ernie Jarvis, and his wife, Pepco VP Debbi Jarvis. Following a lovely cocktail reception on the terrace, everyone went up to the transformed top floor for dinner.
Aerospace Industries Assn CEO (and former FAA chief) Marion Blakey and her husband Dr. Bill Dooley. After dinner, guests were treated to a performance of Camelot in Concert starring Olivier winner Laura Michelle Kelly as Guenevere and Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell as King Arthur.
Two IBM superstars: Anne Altman and Dan Pelino. She's in charge of their federal business and he's in charge of healthcare and education; between them, they supervise 20,000 employees. Dinner was bibb lettuce with blackberries and peaches, pheasant with baby vegetables and rosemary-lemon potatoes, and plum crunch cake.
