Last night, we headed to the Beacon Hotel and Bar in Dupont Circle for the most recent installment of ShowTunes & Cocktails, put on by theatreWashington.
The event showcases a guest artist and other fans of showtunes with a live pianist. We snapped performer Yvette Spears performing "I've Gotta Be Free," with musical director William Knowles on the piano. The duo is currently starring in and producing "Blackberry Daze" at Metro Stage in Alexandria through Oct. 9.
Attendees enjoyed happy hour cocktails while joining in singing their favorite showtunes. Here, theatreWashington board member and resident pianist Glenn Pearson joins Patti Harburger, the former director of The Children's House of Washington, with Marnie Kenney and her daughter, up-and-coming pianist Raya Kenney.
The monthly showcase is hosted by theatreWashington and attracts a wide range of singers and fans of musical theater. Here, theatreWashington's Michael Kyrioglou discusses the multitude of show openings and the fall schedule with attendees.
