Sharks And Recreation!

We went to BYT Presents: Sharks and Recreation last week, another Nat Geo After Hours event at the National Geographic Museum.

Guests enjoyed exclusive nighttime access to the Nat Geo photo exhibit, "Sharks: On Assignment" with Brian Skerry, who has gone to extraordinary lengths to photograph sharks. We snapped Circa’s Erin Kindelan, ‎AARP’s Casey Rivkin, Caroline Cassidy and Steph Patton.

The party featured a big outdoor courtyard with SKYY Vodka specialty cocktails and beer from Old Bust Head Brewing Co., food trucks, photo booths, laser beams, mermaids, a Ron Swanson (from the NBC show "Parks and Recreation") look-a-like contest, and a mechanical shark guests could ride (à la mechanical bulls). Here, Ani Arzoomanian, Arlington Public Schools’ Sammy Silver, Amanda Johnston and consultant Sarah Gold.

The event also featured talks from Nat Geo Explorers Shannon Switzer (aka The Surfing Scientist), Kendra Chritz (Dentist of the Dead), Gemina Garland-Lewis (Whale Warrior) and Katie Orlinsky (Winter Chaser) about their work with aquatic life inside the Nat Geo museum Grosvenor Auditorium. Here, ‎the U.S. Copyright Office’s Emma Raviv, attorney Dani Zylberberg and Rachel Storey.
