Yesterday we went to Nats Park for the Prevent Cancer 5k Walk/Run benefiting the Prevent Cancer Foundation, which saves lives through cancer prevention and early detection. DC’s 107.3 came out to support the participants, and Sarah, Ty and Mel’s Sarah Fraser helped get them to the finish line with encouraging words. She’s with Teddy and 107.3’s Ikea Fischer.
Close to 1,000 people participated, including families, children and their pets. A health fair followed the run/walk on the stadium concourse; the dugouts and batting cages were open for guests to enjoy. We saw team Cancer Conquerors right after their race: board member Don Hutchins, Colvin Run Elementary’s Jess Seiler and Payal Herendeen, and GH & Assoc’ Barb Hutchins.
Expecting different weather, goodie bags had sunglasses and sunscreen. Guests also were given Kind Bars, skin cancer screenings, and flu shots from Walgreens.
