The evening benefited the Academy of Vocal Arts, the world’s premier institution for turning young artists into international opera soloists. Here, its president Kevin McDowell is surrounded by co-chairs Michael and Ricki Helfer and by Jeffrey Cunard and Mariko Ikehara.

Guest mingled at the post-performance reception with wine, cheese, and chocolate-covered strawberries. Here, True Theatergoer’s John Hauge, Greater Greater Education’s (not a typo) Natalie Wexter, and WNO president James Feldman.

The program included “Summertime” from Porgy and Bess, and “Salut! Demeure chaste et pure” from Faust. Here, IDT Systems’ Robert Skelly, Broken Pencil Productions’ Bonnie Williams, U of MD’s Douglas Gill, and World Bank’s Susan McAdams and Asuka Sato, all members of the Choral Arts Society.
