Opera Ball!

Saturday night we went to the German Ambassador's Residence in Foxhall for the highly anticipated annual Opera Ball.

We snapped former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, his wife, Callista, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, and opera patrons Diane and Leonard Brown. Guests were greeted by the German Ambassador and his wife as they entered the modern residence.

Dr. Franklin Lowe, Liechtenstein Ambassador Claudia Fritsche, Irish Ambassador Anne Anderson, and Opera Ball Chair and former Chief of Protocol Capricia Penavic Marshall. Guests enjoyed an open bar reception with dessert stations serving classic German recipes, like German chocolate cake and apple strudel.

Kennedy Center trustee Adrienne Arsht and president Deborah Rutter kick off their heals with producer Robert Pullen. Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed a variety of performances on the main terrace, including a burlesque performer, a jazz band, and up-and-coming opera singers.

Bennett Group's Luann Bennett and Ballas Bloom Consulting's Jacquie Bloom with former Rep. Jim Moran. The evening was beautiful with a crisp breeze, making it lovely to wander the residence's manicured grounds.

Former Afghan Ambassador Said Jawad and his wife, TTR Sotheby's Shamim Jawad. Prior to the Ball, many guests participated in private dinners at over a dozen embassies.

Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, his wife, Dr. Eve Ignatius, and  yoga instructor Pari Bradlee.

The Kennedy Center's Nicole Kidston and Jovita Gross join opera patron Robin Sheoskin. All evening, opera performers in costume mingled with guests.

Brandon Booth, his wife, the Kennedy Center's Meg Booth, consultant Robin Blanchard and DoD's Soren Jones.

The Kennedy Center's Whitney Baskin, Laura London, Stephanie Aboukasm and Andrew Tarquinio on the terrace.

Following performances on the terrace, guests headed downstairs to the Berlin Bar for dancing, a live DJ and a savory buffet. It had a roaring '20s theme and framed pictures showing US-German relations.
