We went to The Mayflower Hotel for the 2015 Mentor Foundation USA International Gala. The annual event raises awareness around the importance of drug prevention and positive youth development. We snapped the host, Sweden’s Queen Silvia, surrounded by sponsor Saudi Prince Abdulaziz Al Saud and his wife, Princess Sora Al Saud.
The cocktail reception had delicious hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction featuring a Neiman Marcus private fashion luncheon, wine tastings, and dinner at the Iceland ambassador’s residence. Jewelry designer Sabine Roemer, who's created one-of-a kind pieces for Nelson Mandela, President Clinton and Prince William, flew in from London, donating her handcrafted pieces for the auction. She's with L’enfant Gallery owner and auctioneer Peter Colasante.
During the reception, there was music by Empyrean Heights, a band from Annandale High School. Here, board chair and PR guru Alan Hermesch with his wife, Susanna Michelsen (left), are with board member and CulturalDC’s Juanita Hardy and her husband, Millennium Arts Salon’s Melvin Hardy.
