Last night we went to the annual Life is Sweet, a culinary tasting event thrown by Best Buddies Virginia.
This popular fundraiser pairs local chefs with a Best Buddies participant to create their favorite treats for guests to sample. We snapped the emcee, 94.7 FRESH FM’s Tommy McFly, with fellow supporters Miss District of Columbia Teen USA Niara Iman, Miss Virginia Teen USA Ann Kutyna and Miss District of Columbia USA Lizzy Olsen.
Poste featured goat cheese panna cotta, 1789 featured citrus olive oil cake, and Salamander Resort featured red velvet cake. Executive Pastry Chef and chair Susan Wallace (right) with her buddy Allie Robbins and George Mason University’s Lauren Hyer made delicious key lime pie and peanut butter truffles.
The event raises funds to help create one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
