Last night we stopped by Bloomingdale’s Chevy Chase for a fashion preview and shopping event benefiting the Junior League of Washington, which received a portion of the evening's sales. We snapped Silent Circle’s Christine Piry, Hill staffer Kelly Cotner and Bozzuto’s Blanton Smith.
The Junior League of Washington (JLW) is an organization of women who promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve communities through education. Volunteer Martha Gittings has passed on the philanthropic spirit to her daughters, MXM Social’s Allison and Education Week’s Dana.
The evening honored JLW’s partnership with Higher Achievement, a rigorous four-year after-school and summer program combining academics, mentoring and leadership. Here, former The Scene Bisnow reporter and now Washington Life editor Erica Moody, who emceed, is flanked by TV producer BJ Barretta and District Dress Up blogger Abbey Brandon.
Over 2,400 area women are members of the JLW, adding to over $5.4M raised since its launch to help underserved communities. Here, American Red Cross’ Diane Lebson, JLW co-chair Jackie Ripke, and fashion consultant and last year’s emcee Meredith Liberty.
