Last Thursday was the 13|U grand opening celebration on the corner of 13th and U streets, at JBG Smith’s newest luxury residential development. The cocktail reception took place on the building’s rooftop terraces, which feature a resident lounge with fireplace, grilling stations, outdoor kitchen, fire pits and views of the U.S. Capitol and Washington Monument. The new building features 129 apartments ranging from one-bedroom to two-bedrooms with den. The units feature hardwood flooring, nine-foot ceiling heights, stainless steel appliances such as built-in refrigerators, quartz countertops and bathrooms with floating vanities and double sinks. The building’s interiors were designed by New York-based Champalimaud. Guests got to tour the building’s model unit and sampled desserts from a chocolate bar. The 13|U complex offers a fitness studio with personal trainer, private underground parking, a state-of-the-art key system and a full-service concierge. JBG Smith is also offering a full-year membership to VIDA Fitness’ Penthouse Pool Club for new residents leasing two-bedroom units.
