Jackie Premiere!

The Newseum was packed Thursday night with some of Washington’s most influential politicians and journalists. More than 13 members of Congress, current and former Obama administration officials and many other DC insiders gathered to see the DC premiere of Jackie.

The film is a psychological portrait of former First Lady Jacqueline Onassis Kennedy in the days following John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Played by Natalie Portman, the role has already received widespread critical acclaim.

Director Pablo Larraín has said he couldn’t imagine doing the movie without Portman as Mrs. Kennedy.

After the screening, the influential Washington audience (including former attorney general Eric Holder, Sens. Shelley Moore Capito and Chris Murphy; Ed O’Keefe; Sally Quinn; Dan Glickman and many more) buzzed about the film in a post-screening Q&A moderated by Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus, pictured here with Portman, Larraín and screenwriter Noah Oppenheim
