We were at The Washington Hilton on Saturday for the Georgetown Lombardi 30th Anniversary Gala to celebrate and support Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The black-tie dinner was a who’s who of DC, featuring a cocktail reception, epicurean seated dinner, renowned silent auction, and presentation to remarkable individuals for their contributions in the fight against cancer. Here, Vince Lombardi II (grandson of legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi), ESPN NFL Insider and recipient of this year’s NFLPA Georgetown Lombardi Award Chris Mortensen, and NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the gala directly benefited the center’s cancer research, education and treatment. Since its inception, the annual event has raised an astonishing $23M! The gala featured the story of the center through a series of compelling testimonial videos, produced by Emmy Award-winning producer David Hill, pictured here, who also served as master of ceremonies.

A part of Georgetown University Medical Center and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Georgetown Lombardi seeks to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer through innovative basic and clinical research, patient care and community education. We snapped Georgetown University professor Dr. Chunling Yi, who received the 2016 Georgetown Lombardi Rising Star Research Award, pictured here with Georgetown University president Jack DeGioia.

More than 900 guests, who were greeted with a video of thanks from Oscar-nominated actor and Georgetown University alumnus Bradley Cooper, who lost his father to cancer in 2011, attended the gala. Cooper's father was treated at Hackensack University Medical Center/John Theurer Cancer Center, which has a strong research partnership with Georgetown Lombardi.
