Last night we also went to the FOCUS Gala for dinner, drinks and dancing at the historic Whittemore House. FOCUS, which stands for Friends of Choice in Urban Schools, has been supporting DC public charter schools for 19 years. We snapped City Bridge Foundation’s Sarah Smothers, New Schools Venture Fund’s Vanessa Gonzalez and KIPP DC’s Amanda Borden.

200 public charter leaders and supporters celebrated the top charter movement in the country. Here, Building Hope’s Joseph Bruno, and Washington Latin Public Charter School’s Mark Learner with his wife, Michelle.

We enjoyed bites of salmon skewers, bacon brie mini sandwiches, and beef on potato cakes, and sipped on the specialty drink, cucumber lime aqua fresca. Here, Cesar Chavez Schools’ Joan Massey and Terri Smyth-Riding, and Benning Elementary’s Raymond Weeden.
