Dreams For Kids Rink Time!

We joined Dreams for Kids DC at Kettler Iceplex in Ballston on Saturday for a special hockey clinic in partnership with the Washington Capitals. Lead sponsor and host Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation invites DFKDC every year to host children with disabilities and volunteers for some rink time with pros like Caps defenseman Brooks Orpik, flanked here by Madison volunteers Caitlin Shannon and Leandra Olson, with participants Andrew and Zoe.

The nonprofit was able to celebrate its seventh season, backed by sponsors like Michael & Sons, Subway, DARCARS, and more than 100 volunteers. DARCARS' Kenny Rogers and Bobby Ward joined participant Joey.

The annual event welcomed more than 100 children from the DC area, many of them hitting the ice for the first time. Each child was paired with a volunteer, so they had a full day of one-on-one attention, like this perfect pair, board member Kevin Chesley and participant Ari.
