On My Own is the moving story of her husband John's death; her fury at the 10 agonizing days it took for him to die; her determination to change the laws that prevent letting people with terminal illness choose how they want to die; and how her life has changed in the last year since then, after 54 years of marriage. We snapped her, right, with Washington Humane Society board member Nina Benton, celebrating the announcement of the WHS merger with the Washington Animal Rescue League, and with Trish Vradenburg, the party's host, who has gotten Diane involved in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
