Danish Royal Visit!

Last night, we headed to the Royal Danish Embassy off Whitehaven Street for the arrival of their Royal Highnesses, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, on their visit to promote Danish companies in the US.

We snapped the Crown Princess being greeted by the Danish Ambassador's daughter, as he looks on, during the arrival ceremony at the Ambassador's Residence.

Following the program, guests enjoyed a buffet-style dinner at the residence. Here the American Chamber of Commerce in Denmark's Stephen Brugger joins former US Ambassador to Denmark Laurie Fulton, The World Bank's Susanna Shine and the current US Ambassador to Denmark, Rufus Gifford.

Here, the royal couple greets Danish minister for business and growth Troels Lund Poulsen while awaiting the receiving line of guests and fellow dignitaries on the residence's terrace overlooking Rock Creek Park.

Prior to the arrival ceremony, guests of the Embassy eagerly awaited the arrival of the royal couple. Here, National Building Museum's Susan Piedmont-Palladino joins the Danish Embassy's Jette Elk Jaer, the Library of Congress' David Taylor and his wife, LeEllen Friedland.

Crown Prince Frederik presents his Medal of Honor to Danish interior designer Anette Rachlin, who owns a store on Scandinavian design in Georgetown.
