Danish Embassy Reception For Afghan Girls Education!

For Women's History Month, we headed to the happiest place in DC, the Royal Danish Embassy, for the Initiative to Educate Afghan Women reception. We snapped reception co-chair Christine Warnke, Danish Ambassador Lars Gert Lose, his wife, Ulla Rønberg, reception co-chair John McCarthy, Afghan Ambassador Hamdullah Mohib, his wife, Lael Mohib, and the Initiative to Educate Afghan Women's executive director Christian Wistehuff.

The Initiative to Educate Afghan Women furthers women's education in Afghanistan and provides scholarships for students to study in the US. Here, Initiative student at Mount Clair State Marzia Hosseini, Advisory Board member Geri Abdoo with Eleanor Dubinsky, who collaborated on an original song based on a student's poetry, and recent St. Lawrence grad and Initiative student Maryam Laly.

The open bar reception at the Ambassador's residence was on the terrace overlooking Rock Creek Park. Here, his nephew Seb Mohib joins Afghan Embassy's Maryam Faraz and Mina Zahine bookending Home Health Connections CEO Shahin Mafi.

Guests heard from the Danish and Afghan ambassadors about the importance of supporting women's education in Afghanistan. Here, Initiative student and poet Hajar Hussaini, Danish Embassy's Helena Hansen and PwC's Wazhma Furmuli.
