Compassion Through Fashion!

We attended Compassion Through Fashion 5th annual fundraiser for Arco Iris America, a nonprofit foundation helping disadvantaged children around the world, at the French Embassy. We snapped one of the evening's emcees, Jan du Plain, bookended by Tabbie Saenz and Erika Garcia.

The cocktail party provided wine and hors d'oeuvres followed by a fashion show featuring clothing and handbags created by two Bolivian designers. Here, one of the designers, Kathyuska Carrasco, surrounded by Dendry Aguilar, Silvana Quiroz (holding featured purses), Marisol Flamenco and Karen Edwin.

All proceeds from the evening, including purchase of various fashion merchandise, benefited the Arco Iris organization's programs in La Paz, Bolivia, including street projects, orphanages and special apparel production. Here, Ambassador of Botswana David Newman flanked by his wife, Changu, and models from the evening's catwalk, Alejandra Jauregui and Roberta Farah.

Arco Iris America works with Fundacion Arco Iris (FAI) in Bolivia, together offering relief to over 30,000 street children. The evening's two honorees: founder of the Azar Foundation for Children of the World Shahin Mafi and FAI's founder Father Jose Maria Neuenhofer with Shahin's husband, Hassan Massali (left), and Marty and Morayma Bak.
