Yesterday we went to the Witness to the Revolution luncheon at the Women's National Democratic Club.
The luncheon featured a talk with political reporter, film producer and author Clara Bingham, here flanked by WNDC president Nuchhi Currier and immediate past president Anna Fierst, Teddy Roosevelt's great-granddaughter.
Bingham’s career includes a stint as Newsweek’s White House Correspondent and a UPI stringer in Papua New Guinea. The author of three books, she now turns to oral history, drawing on 100 interviews to document one of the most turbulent years of a turbulent decade. Between August 1969 and August 1970, Bingham covered the era’s milestone political and cultural events, from My Lai to Kent State, Woodstock to the Pentagon Papers, documenting statements from students, celebrity activists and underground figures.
