Chance for Life!

We went to the City Tavern Club in Georgetown Saturday for the 9th annual Chance for Life Poker Tournament for the Spinal Cord Tumor Association.

Congrats to general contractor Shaun Dunevant, who beat 200 players to win the $10,000 grand prize seat at the World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas. We’re excited, because he was our guest at the Bisnow table. We snapped him with Peruvian Brothers food truck owner and former Olympian Giuseppe Lanzone, the White House’s Fran Holuba, and her brother Jack Holuba.

Beginning in the afternoon, the tourney continued into a fun after-party where guests enjoyed wine tasting, silent auction, food pairings by award-winning chefs, and live music by the Doug Segree Band and DJ Dirty Hands. Here, Bank of America’s Ashley Finger, Washington Life’s Catherine Carlstedt, and poker player Blue-Sky Capital’s Christian Marafatsos.

Since 2005, Chance for Life has raised nearly $1 million to fund research. We snapped Skinfinity’s Kelley Halpern, NoVa Bancard’s Kristin Cecchi, and Skinner-Britton founders Jeanne Skinner and Megan Britton.

Cogent Communications’ Lada Rebrova and Apex Insurance Group’s Jeff Castleton, with his wife, iCore Networks’ Mona Castelton.

The fundraiser is inspired by Kennedy Snyder, a determined 13-year-old who's been battling the disease for 11 years. She’s surrounded by her dad, Inspira Marketing CEO Jeff Snyder, winner Shaun Dunevant, and RedPeg Marketing CEO and Chance for Life founder Brad Nierenberg.
