Capital Food Fight!

We were at the 11th annual Capital Food Fight Tuesday, hosted by DC Central Kitchen at the Ronald Reagan Building, featuring CNN’s Anthony Bourdain and ABC’s Carla Hall. The Iron Chef-style battle raised funds to help end hunger and poverty. We snapped DCPS’ Kathryn Moore, DC Central Kitchen’s Alexander Moore, Boeing’s Tom Bartlett and Rare’s Anna Bartlett.

More than 75 DC restaurants participated. Our favorite dishes included Cava Mezze’s pork belly baklava, Matchbox’s duck confit salad, Ping Pong’s sesame chicken with green tea waffles and Jaleo’s jamon flautas with liquid olives. Here, FCC’s Paul Manning, Vodafone’s Berenice Manning and Smithsonian Institute’s Jennifer Price.

Ripple and Roofer’s Union Chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley won the culinary battle and Couture Cake Creations’ Melissa Payne won the cake battle. Here, DC Chamber of Commerce’s Harry Wingo, Judge Elizabeth Wingo and Rob Plans Your Trip’s Rob Stern.

Over 1,000 guests enjoyed a speakeasy area for specialty cocktails and beer from Stella Artois. Here, &Pizza’s Kristen Woodruff, Heidi Guerard and Debbie Kaplan.
