Last Thursday, we went to the Breathe Easy Bash at K&L Gates LLP. We snapped Kenneth O'Mard with IBM’s Jeremy O'Mard, Kaiser Permanente’s Jocelyn O'Mard and Angela Kinney, who has two college-aged daughters with cystic fibrosis and currently serves as the National Volunteer Engagement Chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Volunteer Leadership Council and is a member of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter’s board of directors.

The event was hosted by the Metro D.C. Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which celebrated 22 of the D.C. area’s Finest Young Professionals, a CFF initiative for young professionals that have raised more than $50K over the summer in support of the foundation. Here, Deloitte & Touche LLP’s Peter Hodge, who spoke at the event about how the CF Foundation helped his child, with WUSA9 reporter Ileana Diaz, the event’s emcee. Hodge is a father of two daughters with cystic fibrosis, ages 24 and 16, and he has served as the National Volunteer Chair for the annual fund of the CF Foundation since 2011.

More than 125 guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, silent auction, a photo booth and an awards ceremony where the participants were honored for their efforts in helping to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. Each honoree completed a 16-week campaign that raised funds and awareness for the CF Foundation. Here, Metro D.C. Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Executive Director Denise Brownlee (in black) flanked by Inova Health System’s Lauren Marinak, Elizabeth Davies, Brenna Cannon and Melissa Bowen.

CFF is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. The foundation funds more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible because of CFF support. Based in Bethesda, CFF also supports and accredits a national care center network that has been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model of care for a chronic disease. Here, BlueLabs’ Alison Mortell with honoree Joanna Rodriguez, communications director for Rep. Carlos Curbelo.
