Last night we went to the JW Marriott for the 30th annual Tim Russert Congressional Dinner for the Boys & Girls Clubs.
We snapped NBC’s Luke Russert, right, Tim’s son, who emceed for the seventh year in a row, here with Frank Capra. Luke gave frequent reports of the score of the Wizards game 5 and Capitals game 7, and moved the night along briskly so everyone could go home and watch what we hoped would be an exciting finish. He talked movingly about how important the Club was to him, his dad and his grandpa.
Congrats to gala chair and Pepco EVP Dave Velazquez, who raised over $1.2M. He’s surrounded by Morris Manning & Martin’s Wendy White, Deloitte’s Stanley Porter, and Boys & Girls Clubs Board member and DTZ’s Cathy Jones, and by Inform’s Melanie Thomas.
DTZ’s Dan Rasmussen and Art Santry at the pre-dinner reception. Delightful young people introduced the night’s honorees: HUD Secretary Julian Castro, Rep. Paul Ryan, PhRMA’s John Castellani, and coach John Thompson, representing his dad, all of whom talked about the importance of the Boys & Girls Clubs to them.
