Last weekend, we went to the 30th annual Bark Ball at the Washington Hilton.

The Human Rescue Alliance has been the voice of animals for more than 145 years as an organization dedicated to keeping animals safe and to find them loving homes. At its largest black-tie fundraiser of the year, we got to dine with our canine best friends to support HRA's programs. We snapped Smithsonian's Hannah Jones, Alex Venditti Group's Cherie Jones, Parisa Gropper and HRA's Shelia Ward surrounding 16-year-old Chance.

Many of the dogs in attendance were HRA alumni who got to enjoy a fabulous bark bar full of treats, courtesy of Barkley Square. Here, Doug Church holding mini goldendoodle Lincoln, HSUS' Darren Silvis and Paul Shapiro, and Plant Base on a Budget's Toni Okamoto.

Guests enjoyed a three-course vegan dinner of tabbouleh terrine with purée sweet pea, herb-tossed root vegetable ravioli with chipotle spiced carrots and a chocolate cake with raspberry filling. Here, Bridget Black and Discovery Communications' Sophia Asmuth with golden and collie mix Rozzy.

Pets that are currently up for adoption were featured on stage and got to meet and mingle with guests in hopes of finding their forever home.
