Art Night!

Last night we also headed to the 4th annual art night hosted by the DC Education Fund at the Pepco Edison Place Gallery to celebrate arts in DC Public Schools. We snapped its co-chairs Peggy Cooper Cafritz and Debbi Jarvis, and prez Catherine Townsend, surrounding DC Public Schools chancellor Kaya Henderson.

This evening launched DC Education Fund’s ArtsNowDC, a year-round initiative to raise funds and awareness for arts programs. Here, the Fund’s Rebecca Sivy, Accenture’s Darrel Gullat, KEYW’s Samrat Dudhat, and Video Action’s Lauryn Nwankpa.

During the live auctionAndy and Julie Klingenstein won this work of art by Jamesha, a student at Sharpe Health School, for $1,350, and plan to donate it to Walker Jones Elementary School.

The reception was catered by Zaytinya and Gepetto. Guest enjoyed homemade chips with hummus, spanakopita, and chicken skewers. Here Yamaha jazz artist Tony DeSare and Legal Services’ Tracy Higgins.
