Last night we also went to the AMAR US second annual gala dinner at the Park Hyatt Hotel to support its projects to rebuild lives in the Middle East. The honoree, Ambassador and Georgetown University Institute for Women, Peace and Security director Melanne Verveer, addressed the importance of women's leadership in peace building and global security, saying No country can get ahead if it leaves half its people behind.
