The dinner honored Mark and Brenda Moore for the millions in life-changing contributions they make in medicine, education, arts and preservation through their Moore Family Foundation with the Outstanding Community Service Award. They're with LEAP CEO Clayton Lawrence.
The NOVA UL has awarded over 150 college scholarships to minority youth totaling over $600,000 over the past 26 years. This year they awarded more than $90,000 in scholarships, including a new Lt. Gen. Emmett Paige Jr scholarship from two tech firms, which awards a five-year scholarship, an annual summer job, a company mentor, and job placement upon college graduation to a worthy Virginia student. The Northern Virginia Urban League is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, multi-ethnic, social service organization whose mission is to enable African Americans and other disadvantaged people to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights through services and advocacy.
