How can transparency save your office money? We walked around Haynes and Boone's new DC office in PNC Place at 800 17th St.

Here's office managing partner Phil Hampton's new space—photographed from outside of his office. With the floor-to-ceiling glass both on the exterior and interior walls, he says they're using up to 25% of their previous lighting consumption. The building, PNC Place, was the first in DC to get LEED Platinum certification.

We snapped Phil in the firm's lobby; if you look closely, the screen is made of intertwining Hs and Bs. That's the work of Gensler, which did the architecture and interior design. Rand did construction on the 22,000 sq. ft. space. Phil tells us they hope to lease the remaining 8,000 sq. ft. available for expansion on the floor within the next few months. The firm has 500 lawyers and is focused on growing its DC presence.

Here's the view looking left from the lobby; on the left are breakout rooms for small meetings, with conference rooms on the right against the outer wall. At the end of the hall is a multi-purpose room with sliding walls. If you head to the corner office in the other direction, you get a view of the Washington Monument and the Old Executive Office Building—the office is just a couple blocks from the White House.
