Racine Wins

"There's a leader in the race right now, and that's me," said Karl Racine during a debate in the District's very first election for attorney general. He was right. On Tuesday the people of DC voted to elect him AG, with Karl winning 37 percent of the votes. He was up against Lorie Masters, Lateefah Williams, Edward "Smitty" Smith and Paul Zukerberg. (It was Paul who fought successfully to have the election held this year.) Karl was the first African-American to be the managing partner of a major law firm, 600-lawyer Venable, and is a past public defender and associate White House counsel.
