Maureen has been DC's first woman land use lawyer. With clients including Georgetown U, GW, Trinity University, Rockefeller Development Group, Edens, and Boston Properties, she focuses on zoning and municipal law work, and finance and construction. Projects range from Square 75 and Square 54Union Market with Edens (currently planning an addition to house the Angelika Theater, with another Edens multi-use project on Florida Avenue and Fourth Street NE just approved and one on Fifth Street with an upcoming hearing). The conversion of Georgetown's WWII-era West Heating Plant into high-end condos has started the entitlement process, and in May, Trinity's first new academic building in half a century, the $40M Trinity Academic Center, broke ground. Maureen majored in urban studies at Smith, and tells us that she came to real estate law after her first son was born during law school at Catholic, and she wanted to join a smaller firm. Wilkes Artis--the oldest real estate firm in the region--had a zoning opening. Later she moved to Shaw Pittman, which merged with Pillsbury, where she became DC managing partner. In 2010, a group of lawyers decided to go back to their roots focusing on real estate, and joined Goulston. Maureen has 13 nieces and nephews and two grandchildren.
