Chief Judge Lee Satterfield of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia will retire effective Feb. 1, 2017, leaving a vacancy on the Superior Court.
Hon. Satterfield has served on the Superior Court since being appointed by President George H.W. Bush in '92, including two terms as chief judge. He ran for a third term this year against four other candidates; ultimately, the DC Judicial Nomination Commission chose Judge Robert Morin to become the court's new chief judge. Hon. Morin will take office on Oct. 1.
The Judicial Nomination Commission is accepting applications for the vacancy left by Hon. Satterfield's retirement until noon on Thursday, Aug. 25.
