O'Melveny DC managing partner Jeff Kilduff and False Claims Act expert Dave Leviss both got pied in the firm's 1625 Eye St office. The backstory? A happy hour fundraiser that earned around $7k for the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights & Urban Affairs.
Associates Darcy Meals, Lindsey Freeman and Raghav Ahuja get the credit (or the blame) for the fundraiser. The incentive to donate: if the firm raised enough money, a couple of partners agreed to be hit in the face with a pie.
The Washington Lawyers Committee announced big news this week: After 45 years of service, executive director Rod Boggs will step down in June. He'll be replaced by Jonathan Smith, a former executive director of the Legal Aid Society of DC and chief of the Special Litigation Section of the DOJ's Civil Rights Division.
The event was part of a multiple-firm campaign to raise enough money to support at least one WLC staff attorney for the year. The money O'Melveny raised jumped the firm to second place in the fundraising standings.
