The Most Tweeted About Brew at SAVOR

The National Building Museum is probably still suffering from a hangover. For two days, 76 small and independent breweries from across the nation set up shop to offer sample pours to beer aficionados toting glasses marked “SAVOR.” Each brew was paired with a small bite featuring complimentary flavors. SAVOR was presented by the Brewers Association. We experienced the event firsthand on Friday, May 9 and then studied #SAVOR2014 tweets.

Allagash Brewing Company’s Coolship Red—a sour, spontaneously fermented beer made with local raspberries emerged as the most tweeted about brew. It helped that DC Beer listed Coolship Red as No. 1 on its “Can’t Miss Beer List.” Those that got to try it were fortunate—the beer is so difficult to produce that it’s only available at the brewery’s retail store in Maine. Feast your eyes on these favorable tweets:

@Gfiumara “This is the funkiest, wildest, stinkiest beer I’ve had in my life!...(Coolship Red)”

@Popularoutcasts “I’m in sour heaven – Drinking Coolship Red by @allagashbrewing”

@Bosoxbrent “Woah Nellie! Total cheek puckering. Awesome! Love the red color too… (Coolship Red)”

@JacRiley “Savor selfie! Best beer of the night: Allagash Coolship Red!”
